February to August is the dry and sunny season with sea temperatures ideal for swimming. June and July are peak beach months. September to November is typhoon season — expect heavy rain and sometimes rough sea. December and January are cooler and overcast, but the city still functions well and prices drop.
Hoi An's Ancient Town is 30 minutes south by taxi and easily the most popular day trip. The Marble Mountains are just 10 kilometres from My Khe Beach and take two hours to explore. Ba Na Hills — the fantasy mountain resort with the famous Golden Bridge — is a half-day excursion 25 kilometres into the highlands.
Da Nang is excellent value compared to similar beach destinations in Thailand or Bali. A well-reviewed 4-star beachfront hotel typically costs 60–120 EUR per night, while budget guesthouses near the beach start around 20–35 EUR. The luxury end — InterContinental and Hyatt Regency — remains affordable by international resort standards.
