Who we are

havenago (havenago.com) is an independent hotel recommendation website. We publish hand-picked hotel guides for destinations across Asia-Pacific, Australia and New Zealand, and Central and Eastern Europe. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process when you visit our site, why we process it, and what rights you have. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@havenago.com.

The short version

We keep things simple. havenago has no user accounts, no newsletter, no comment section and no booking forms. You never enter personal details on our site. The only data we process is anonymous usage statistics collected through Google Analytics 4, plus the technical data your browser sends with every website request.

What data we collect

• Usage statistics: pages viewed, approximate location (country or city level), device and browser type, referral source and interactions such as clicks on outbound hotel links. This data is collected via Google Analytics 4 and is aggregated and pseudonymised.
• Server and technical data: our hosting provider (Vercel) processes IP addresses and request metadata in server logs for security and delivery purposes, retained only briefly.
• Email correspondence: if you email us at hello@havenago.com, we process your email address and the content of your message solely to reply to you.

We do not collect names, postal addresses, payment details or any special categories of personal data, and we never sell personal data to anyone.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a web analytics service provided by Google, to understand which guides are useful and how visitors find us. GA4 sets cookies and collects pseudonymised identifiers; it does not log full IP addresses in reports. We use this information only in aggregated form. You can learn more in our Cookie Policy or opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Affiliate links and third-party cookies

havenago participates in the Booking.com affiliate programme through CJ Affiliate (Commission Junction). When you click an outbound link to Booking.com, CJ Affiliate and Booking.com may set their own cookies to attribute a booking to havenago. These cookies are governed by the privacy policies of CJ Affiliate and Booking.com, not by ours. All bookings, payments and guest data are handled entirely by Booking.com — we never see your booking details.

Legal basis for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for analytics cookies and on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure, reliable website for technical server data and for answering your emails.

Data retention

GA4 event data is retained for a maximum of 14 months and then deleted or aggregated. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you,
• request rectification or erasure,
• restrict or object to processing,
• receive your data in a portable format,
• withdraw consent at any time,
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
